The Woman In White
written by Wilkie Collins
The story took place in a village called Limmeridge, where a family of three -- Mr Fairlie and his two nieces, who names were Laura and Marian, lived in.
An art teacher named Walter was sent to the family for teaching the girls art; and Walter soon fell in love with Laura.
But something happened so unexpectedly, that Laura would have to marry a man called Sir Percival, and she had recieved a letter warning her not to marry Sir Percival. The art teacher and the girls didn’t know who wrote the letter and for what purpose, so they decided to figure the mistery out.
After several investigation, they found out a girl called Anne had written the letter, and they found that something strange about Sir Percival, but the marriage still had to go on; Laura finally married Sir Percival with anxiety.
At last, the three learnt that Sir Percival was marrying Laura for her money.
After overcoming many difficulties, the story comes into a please end. Sir Percival got his punishment – he was burnt to death accidentally by himself, and the lovers -- Laura and Walter got married.
I think that this is a very readable and execiting story, the plots and the story would lead you reading it nonstop.
Besides, Sir Percival married Laura simply because of her money, reflects simular social problems on nowadays society -- sometimes, we can see likely cases shown on newspapers.
I think this book is worth being recommanded, and I love the story very much.
